Northern cities voted best for buy to let investment

As recently reported by The Telegraph, Manchester is the fourth best university town in the UK for buy to let investment.

The study showed a top 100 index for all the major universities in the UK and where they ranked best for investment. Northern cities dominated the top 10, with Manchester, Leeds and Lancaster all appearing as strong contenders.

The news follows on from new wave of students who are looking for modern, high quality accommodation such as city centre apartments. Unmodernised house-shares which were once considered to be satisfactory have now been replaced with more sought after, better quality homes and apartments in prime locations that are close to universities and city centres.  

Luxury developments have proven particularly popular with international students as well as postgraduates, it has been reported. Their willingness to pay a little more in rent is in response to a higher-spec home with good service and response rate from their landlord or agent. There is a rising number of students not opting for traditional halls residence during their first year, but instead choosing privately owned modern apartments in developments that are also popular with graduates and young professionals.

The rapid growth of the student population is the result of a new government law that no longer restricts the number of students that can be enrolled in any one university. As a result of this, there has been a significant surge in the number of total students admitted across the UK, including international students.
